The Dog Weekend · Issue 04 · Past edition archive

Archived: October 23–25, 2026.

Three days, two verified outings, one weekend where the costume contest may be the best-dressed room in Nashville. Pick a Saturday lane before the group chat starts drafting a split shift.

Friday, October 23 · Set the kit by the door

Saturday’s pack walk calls for a non-retractable leash and treats or kibble. Cheekwood asks guests to bring a water bowl; dogs stay leashed there, too. Costume ambition is up to you.

Evergreen option · Shelby Bottoms Greenway

Take the longer way out.

Metro Parks lists Shelby Bottoms Greenway as open dawn to dusk daily, with free admission and pets allowed on a leash six feet or shorter. This is an evergreen place recommendation, not a dated October 23–25 event.

Segment note: Shelby Bottoms is separate from Richland Creek Greenway. Metro Parks lists only the boardwalk near Shelby Bottoms’ observation deck as closed for repairs, about half a mile near the wetland area; this caveat applies to that boardwalk, not the entire greenway. Check Metro’s current notice before heading out.
